An immature Brown Booby close to Desertas on 1st September 2009. The bird was foraging for about 15 minutes. This was the first record for Madeira. Records within Macaronesia as follows: 1 obtained at São Miguel, Azores, on 23rd May 1966 and 1 immature off Punta de Teno (Tenerife), Canary Islands, on 28th November 1995. Breeds in Cape Verdes with a estimated population of 1000 pairs.
