| A few Great Shearwaters were seen and photographed in the strait between Madeira and Desertas on 20th September 2005. | |

| Interestingly the Great Shearwater is only sighted occassionally in the strait, compared to the high numbers that passing along the northern coastline (e.g. Porto Moniz) in late summer and early autumn. All four photos: Luis Dias, Madeira. | |
